Since the 1st of September me and Chitas are in Poland getting ready for the season, which is just behind the door;) All kinds of trainings aimed at speed, power, stamina and of course some racing!
As for my preparation - I've took part in the Polandbike XC Marathon on 7.09 and finished on the 5th place among Women Elite. Not too bad especially if you take in mind the unpleasant injury of a knee (I tried to ride down the downhill at the XC race the day before...as it turned out even Marek didn't try to ride that downhill;) Well, I have to think before I ride I guess))) and the last sector of the start at the marathon - as the first-time starter I had to be on the very end of the starting groups which turned my race into constant passing and sometimes waiting in the "traffic jams" on the trail at the technical parts...So hopefully next time I will be closer to the best girls.
And as for the bikejoring races - on the 15.09 me and Chitas took part in the club race of the ALASKA Club (Lodz, Poland). The track was 3.1km (was shortened due to the high temperature - it was about 18 degrees), fast and interesting. Unfortunately something was messed up with the timing right before the start of bikejoring and all the competitors had to wait until the problems were figured out for 9-10 minutes with the dogs harnessed on the starting line((( You can imagine what was going on with the dogs - barking, yelling, jumping...and the worst - cooking completely already before the start(((( After the start on the trail I could see that Chitas was running a if he had already done the track 2 or 3 times - and all because of standing for so long before the starting line. But anyway he did great, with an average speed of 34.5km\h, time - 5:18 and perfect team job - all the turns just on the first command. We took 1st place among women and were 2 seconds behind Marek and Zoja - unfortunately Zoja also cooked up while waiting for the start and couldn't show all of her speed on that trail. But these unpleasant moments were dominated by the perfect performance of young Mona - Marek started with her in scooter-1 dog and she did amazing! Great time, great speed and just few hundredths of a second behind experienced Nikolas Imolczyk and Nascar.
Our next start will be on the 21.09 in Kernave, Lthuania - we will take part in a race organized by Indre and Laimonas Daujotiene. And on 22.09 on the way back home we are going to participate in the XC Marathon in Augustow, Poland. Good luck for us:)
